A young boy growing up in a small rural town; Mickey dreamed that music and education could open doors of opportunity for himself and others. Music not only opened doors of opportunity and education in the form of scholarship to McNeese State University (where he earned Bachelors and Masters degrees in Music Education) but it has also opened a door for engaging others with a message of Faith, Hope and Love. Fast forward (25+ years later) that boy has grown up to not only to become a nationally recognized educator and musician but now opens doors of opportunity to others as a mentor and motivator for others. As President of nonprofit Musicmakers2U he helps to "Play It Forward" by giving hundreds of deserving children instruments so that they can study music and discover their own unique sound. The combination of personal artistry, and passion for community sets Mickey, his music and his message apart from everyone else. Mickey's engaging and inspiring spirit even managed to take center stage during an impromptu performance on the nationally televised NBC's Today Show!
